SAD NEWS: We were saddened to hear about the death of Isabel McKenzie, a former chemistry teacher at Duncanrig and Claremont, on 20 April. Funeral details: 11:00 on Tues, 12 May in South Lanarkshire Crematorium.
We are sad to announce the death of Isabella Lang. Her funeral will take place at 2pm on Fri, 8 May in South Lanarkshire Crematorium.
The CHURCH OFFICE will be closed week commencing 4 May.
CLARION DEADLINE: All articles should be submitted by 5 May.
We will be hosting the SETTING APART service for Mhairi Phillipson when Mhairi will become a Reader with the Church of Scotland. This will take place here in the Sanctuary on Tues evening, 5 May at 7pm. Well done Mhairi and it will be a joy to host this Service for you. Everyone is welcome to come along and support Mhairi.
CALDERGLEN CHURCH FIRST SPRING FAYRE - Sat, 9 May: We are desperately seeking Items for our tombola (toiletries, chocolates, wine, candles etc). We would also greatly appreciate donations of new or nearly new bric-a-brac, books, etc. With the fayre now less than a week away, we hope you will be able to support us with your donations. FOCUS GROUP: The next Focus Group series will begin on 10 May and we will be looking at 1 Corinthians chapter 13, over 5 weeks. The material is written by our own Keith Offor and we’re looking forward to un-packing this important passage of scripture, both in the preaching and in the Focus Groups. If you’ve not been part of a Focus Group before, you would be most welcome e to come to any of the groups, which meet at various times and places through the week. Details of venues and times are available in the vestibule and from the Church Office. Please note there is an online group on Tuesday evenings at 7pm for anyone living quite far from the church/other meeting locations, who prefer an evening meeting but do not like going out or driving in the dark, or are disabled or housebound. The Girls' Brigade annual awards presentation is on Wed, 13 May at 6.45pm in the church. Everyone is welcome to join us to celebrate the girls' achievements. Tea and coffee and cake will be served afterwards.
COFFEE MORNING in aid of Headway on Sat, 16 May (10am – 12noon). Donations of home baking and raffle prizes would be much appreciated.
PVG: Disclosure Scotland Legislation now requires that any Calderglen Parish member who is visiting a care home (even as part of a worship group) now needs to hold the relevant PVG. Please speak to Ishbel Campbell if this includes you!
